Dear Ask The Doctor: I had my hair dyed yesterday and am having a reaction. My scalp is tingling and itching. What can I do to stop this from geting worse? Dear Beth: Contact dermatitis is caused due to the exposure of irritants to the skin. There is inflammation and edema of the skin. Treatment will involve washing hair with running water, avoid applying shampoo or creams, corticosteroid creams may help in reducing the inflammation. Usually the inflammation subsides in 2-3 weeks and no other treatment is required. |
