Dear Ask The Doctor: I had a lumbar fusion in may 2010 and had been having seizure like spasms since. my question is looking at this image it looks like the hardware is in the L5-S1 vertebrea, but the fusion material is at the L4-L5 area not L5-S1. and i also had a L4 laminectomy that looks like a portion of my disc was removed between L3-L4, BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH POSSIBLE MS, POSSIBLE PARKINSONS AND PAROXSMAL TONIC SPASMS AND ARACHNOIDITIS, i just believe i have a wrong level fusion any help will be appreciated john
Dear John: According to the X-rays that you provided the level of the fusion is right in L4-L5, you have to have certain expertise reading imaging studies and sometimes may be look confusing for a layman because the way the anatomic structures project in the plate.
