Dear Ask The Doctor: What treatments are there for scalp neuritis?
Dear Rianna: Scalp neuritis is the inflammation of the nerves that provide sensation to the scalp. According to the exact location of the pain in the scalp, different nerves may be affected as trigeminal neuralgia, occipital neuralgia, or some other neuralgia or neuritis. Depending on the cause, the treatment of scalp neuritis may include: local alternating warm and cold compresses, use of anti inflammatory medication (“Aleve”, “Motrin”), Vitamin B complex and local Capsaicin cream may provide you relief of the pain too. Please be patient because most of these Neuritis take time to heal. |
