Dear Ask The Doctor: I have been DX'd with Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy and the treatment that I am getting from my doctors is not helping, mostly pain meds. I am do not have diabetes, and it seems like the pain is so much worse at night. I hate to see the night time come. my feet or either icy cold or burning up with pain. if they are cold and I warm them up then they start burning with so much pain. Then I have to ice them to calm them back down. I sometimes take so much pain meds that it worries me. Isn't there anything they can do about this. I sometime don't think that my doctors believe me how much pain I am in. The pain controls my life.
Dear JOYCE: I feel very sorry for your pain. Unfortunately at this point in time, medications are the only way to control the pain. Have you thought about visiting your doctor about changing the dosages? |
