Numbness in Leg and foot.

Dear Ask The Doctor: I am 15(girl), and have severe migraines..lately i have had numbness on the right side of my right leg and foot( starts at thigh)..can this be related?

Dear Kayla:It is unlikely that your migraines are related to the symptoms of numbness that you are currently experiencing.  The causes of your numbness can range from a pinched nerve in the area of your lumbar spine which is leading to the symptoms to a peripheral nerve injury . It is not possible for me to diagnose you for this without conducting a physical examination and thus you need to see your family physician for a complete physical examination along with Xrays and nerve conduction studies if required.
