Tooth ache - What measures can I take to relieve the pain |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: Ive taken 2 panadol rapids over an hour ago to compensate my tooth ach, since then the pain has 10 folded, is it safe to take 1 metronide???? ive had this pain for months now and its getting removed on monday the 19th of december but i cant sleep and can barley eat!!! Dear Tim: Metronide (metronidazole) is an antibiotic that is usually prescribed for anaerobic bacterial infection of the gut. Taking metronide will not provide you immediate relief. There are some measures that you can take at home to relieve the pain. i) Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. ii) Use dental floss to dislodge and food material that is caught in between the teeth. iii) Over the counter pain medicines to relieve the pain. iv) You can use local topical anesthetic agents containing benzocaine to provide temporary relief. Application of clove oil may also help. If the symptoms are not relieved with these measures, you will need to see your dentist right away. |
