Dear Ask The Doctor: I have suspected medial meniscus tears in both knees. i have recently been prescribedtramacet, but as this only takes the form of a tablet i cant swallow it. is there any painkiller that the doctor can prescribe me to take via injection, either through the muscle or vein?
Dear Ben: Yes, certainly there are injectable analgesic, and they are used mostly in hospitalized , unconscious, debilitated patients; most of them are prescription drugs and need specialized personnel to administer them to the person. But you could pulverize the tablet , mix it with water or your favorite juice and take it that way. |
