Dear Ask The Doctor: I have been prescribed cocodomol for the relief of pain in my hips and lower spine. 8mg Codine to 500mg Paracetomol - I have been taking two tablets before bed and find sleeping is so much better. I am concerned about the addictive side to cocodamol if I take this everynight. Dear Jane: Co-codamol is addictive if taken daily for long periods. It might cause you to feel restless and irritable when you stop the tablets. It is usually prescribed to take the medication for not more than three days at a time, to avoid addiction and other complications. However, your prescribing doctor is the best person to decide the dosage and duration of treatment for your condition. You need to follow your doctor’s instructions strictly to avoid any adverse effects.
