Dear Ask The Doctor: My question is related to the Yasmin, I have been diagnosed with PCO years ago, so as some of you know PCO people do not get a regular period, in my case, I don't unless I'm under certain med. My issue is that I was put on Yasmin and I was taking it monthly as supposed to and that help to start getting my period, not I stopped taking them due to my insurance for about, this is about 3 months now, but I got my period a month ago. Now, this time I did not get my period. My real question is if I stopped taking yasmin three months ago, and I want to come back but I did not get a period this month, is it okay to start tonight on yasmin, usually says to start on a sunday if you have the period but my case is different, because I have not seen my period. Need your help!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Paula: Hello, I understand the issue about re-starting your oral contraceptives. In your case, you could start taking your oral contraceptives on the day you were supposed to have your menses that should be according to what you said one of these days since the last one was a month ago. In my opinion you could start taking them today, I dont see any important contraindication to that besides the better accommodation on the calendar. If there was risk for pregnancy you might want to consider taking a pregnancy test before starting your pills. I wish you the best. |
