Bacterial Resistance and Unine infection

Dear Ask The Doctor: Been to the doctors with a urine infection which he treated with antibiotics, it doesn't seem to be going

Dear Myra: Please keep in mind it does take 48 hours for antibiotics to start working.  If after 48-72 hours you notice things are not improving, two possibilities have to be considered:

1/ The bacteria you are infected with are resistant to the antibiotic prescribed in which case a different antibiotics will be started OR

2/ The diagnosis was incorrect.

Please see your doctor to see what steps should be taken next in your case.
