Could it be German Measles??

Dear Ask The Doctor: My daughter two and a half years old has a fine red, bumpy rash over face, back, stomach, little on arms and legs. One minute it looks like it is clearing up on her face, then i look again and its all over her back. Started yesterday, she had a tempreture for 3 days last week. There has been an outbreak of German Measles in her creche. Have taken her to my GP but he says it cant be that because she has been immunised. She also has no swollen glands, but she does have a runny nose. What else can it be??? My GP does not know, and he does not seem concerned about it. He said it is probably a viral infection that just needs to work out the body...

Dear Chanel: Most of the rashes are caused due to viral infections are usually not treatment is warranted. Tylenol may help relieve the symptoms. It usually take a week to 10 days for the symptoms to clear. I would not be worried in your case. The only thing that would be of concern is if the fever does not subside or there are formations of blisters on the skin which might indicate a bacterial infection.
