Quitting smoking and use of smoke sticks.

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have a touch of emphasema i have quit smoking can you use the ciggarettes that have no nicatine in them only vapour they are called smoke sticks will they hurt your lings thank you

Dear Marilyn: The damage to the lungs through smoking is mainly due to the nicotine in the cigarettes. However even other chemicals present in a cigarette or a smoke stick can effect your lungs in terms of causing inflammation. Its great that you have stopped smoking and do continue with the same. You can also ask your physician about methods like nicotine patch or gum which will help to kick the habit. All the best.
