Bleeding from the nose

Dear Ask The Doctor: Is it normal to have bloody noses when having a cold with no sinus pressure and no nose blowing?

Dear Nicole: Bleeding from the nose or epistaxis may be seen after a cold. Usually this is not serious and the bleeding should stop on its own. However if there is prolonged bleeding, I would suggest that you see an otolaryngologist to rule out other causes of nose bleed.
