Flu Shot Fear

Dear Ask The Doctor: Is it true that getting the flu shot can cause some people to actually get the flu?

Dear Margaret:

Let me reassure you that this is not entirely true. Certain symptoms, most commonly body aches and light fever might develop as a side effect of the vaccine and could resemble the flu.

The flu shot is recommended in people over 50 years, pregnant women, people with any chronic condition, living in nursing homes and exposed to risk factors. I hope I could clear your doubt.
