Management of whiplash injury

Dear Ask The Doctor: I had an auto accident suffered whiplash. Now MRI shows 4 discs out of place I have been doing physio treatment but no positive results so far. Numbness in my left arm and burning pain in my upper back. At times things fall from my hands. How can this situation be resolved permanently? Is surgery the only option if steroid injections do not work? PS Sorry, I am unable to upload images because I did not get them from the Dr.

Dear Beryl: The initial method to manage this condition would be physiotherapy and non steroidal antiinflammatory to control the swelling and inflammation. The next step is usually to try out corticosteroid injections.Since you have tried all of these to no avail , the next treatment option would be surgery which however i would like to state does not gaurantee the cure either. I hope this helps.
