How can I treat a sunburn?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I had sunburn last week and some areas have skin that peeled off. After that I went into salt water and those areas became red. I applied Aloe and now I'm using a moisturizing lotion. It has helped but some areas are still red. What else do you advise? Should I wash those areas with soap or avoid it? How often should I use the lotion? Some spots have small bumps like pimples.
Dear John: I would advice you to continue applying the mosturizing lotion along with the aloe cream . Avoid using any form of chemical soap on that area. Keep it nice an dry and avoid secondary infection from setting in especially in the area of the pimples. Also applying cool compress to the red areas will help in cooling down and reducing the inflammation in that area. I hope this helps. All the best. |
