Diabetes with yellowing of eyes

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hello my name is ciara im 14 years old i have diabetes type 1.Atm im not well i have pains goin acrross my lower chest and have noticed yellow around my eyes ?Is this to do with my diabtes ?And what should i do ? ?

Dear Ciara: The yellow in your eyes and the lower chest pains could be a sign of hepatitis. Most common cause of hepatitis are viral infections due to Hepatitis and E which are transmitted through the feco oral route. You will need to see your doctor for liver function tests and viral studies.
