Diabetes and sugar levels.

Dear Ask The Doctor: I saw my Gp this morning. She did blood suger test and it was 8.7. I ate a burger and had coke about 20 min before i went to she her. She said that it was fine. Is this right as i know that the normal is 5.7? Thanks Reinhardt

Dear Reinhardt: What you got done was a random glucose level and the normal levels for that is 7-10 . Yours is normal and i wouldnt worry about the same. All the best.
