Dear Ask The Doctor: I have an irritating lump on the outside of my scrotum and it's about the size and appearance of a facial pimple. It hurts when it is touched and is soft. I am 18 and I am not sexually active. I workout a lot and tend to sweat a lot, if that has anything to do with it possibly being a pimple. I just wanted to know if it is an innocuous pimple or something more serious. Dear Thomas: What you are experiencing is most probably a folliculitis, which is caused by an inflammation of the hair follicle due to the pores getting blocked and resultant infection. It would advise you to see your doctor for antibiotics and surgical drainage in case of abscess. |
