Dear Ask The Doctor: I had the surgery February 22, 2010. No cancer but I do experience numbness/pain along the surgery line and down the scotum. Also there is pain at the base of the penis where the testicle cord was cut. Does this ever go away? And when should I see a Doctor?
Dear Cliff: It seems your symptoms may be the result of nerves being cut during the surgical procedure. Severed nerves are often the cause for chronic pain and numbness after surgical procedures. There are a numbe rof treatment modalities that can be employed to treat your symptoms. These include various drugs such as Gabapentin and Pregabalin, local anesthetic injections and minor surgical procedures. Speak to your surgeon about the best option for you. |
