Dear Ask The Doctor: I read all these questions on ulcer and the Peptic Ulcer one sounds like what I am feeling. Bad bloating after eating and stomach pain under my rib or better the esophegus but mine is a sharp burning pain that is always there not only when I eat. I also experience a sharp pain that I can't even stand when I bend over that squeezes my stomoch. I have gain lots of weight in the last year and I do have lots of stress in my life at this time. I do not had a gall bladder so I know that is not it. do you think I need to see a doctor?
Dear Vivian: I do understand your concern that you may be suffering from peptic ulcer. Pain in the abdomen may arise from the stomach, duodenum, liver, the lower part of the esophagus and the pancreas.
It is difficult to accurately diagnose pain abdomen without further examination and test. In my opinion you will have to see your doctor/gastroenterologist to rule out GERD, peptic ulcer, gastritis and pancreatitis as the cause of pain abdomen. It is also important to do an electrocardiogram to diagnose for Angina and myocardial infarction which may present with similar symptoms. |
