Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi, im a male, 31 year old, im suffering and inflammation aroung my ankle since december last year. i went to the hospital for x-ray, and im surprise to see that my Medial Malleolus bond was gone. the doctor said it was eaten by the germs since long time ago. is there any chance for me to cure from this pain? and i want to know, what do they called for this kind of disease. for your information, the doctor already did a biopsy on my ankle, but till now i never heard any result from them. please help me.
Dear Rahim: There are many conditions that can cause problems to the medial malleolus including avulsion fracture, other fractures, osteomyelitis, trauma, and osteoporosis. All of these may produce pain and swelling. In the view that your doctor already went ahead and took a sample of tissue, I recommend you to wait for the results and accordingly after determine the cause, you and your doctor can proceed to next step and discuss your treatment options. |
