Pain in the Right Big Toe.

Dear Ask The Doctor: I am having moderate to severe pain in the joint of my right big toe. I have had it for about 5 days and I has gotten to the point in the past two days that I cannot sleep and have great difficulty putting weight on my foot. There is some minor swelling...
Dear Mike: The toe pain could be caused due to trauma of the joint, an infection of the joint or due to underling systemic disease like rheumatoid or osteoarthritis arthritis, gout, nerve impingement and peripheral neuropathy. You may need to consult your doctor and may need to undergo blood-work and x-ray of the effected foot to determine the cause of the toe pain. |
