Pharanygitis recurrence |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: Can Pharnygitis come back? I had it two weeks ago and was prescribed amoxcillin took them and its been a week since off them and i'm having reoccuring symptoms? Dear Dawn: Apparently due to your antibiotic prescription, you had a diagnosis of bacterial pharyngitis. This is a common infection that might take longer that to recover than expected especially if the antibiotics are not taken as prescribed. If you took all your antibiotics, there is also a possibility of re infection, on the other hand if the recurrent symptoms that you mention are cough and sputum, let me reassure you that they are the last symptoms to disappear even if the entity is eradicated form your body. I would suggest you to watch for signs of fever, pain when swallowing and observe your throat for the presence of white pus which would indicate re-infection or a bad treated one and you might want to consult your physician for another prescription of antibiotics a little more potent than amoxicillin. I wish you a prompt recovery.
