Infected Ingrown Toenail: How should I manage it?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have an infected ingrown toenail. It just keeps pussing and bleeding. It has been infected for almost 3 months now, i have no insurance so i can not see a doctor. i have been cleaning it everday with hydrogen peroxide and soaking it in epsom salt and applying nepsporin. I do not cut my nails short or cut them at a curve. It has just been getting worse as the days go by and i am not sure what else there is to do. please help. Thank you!

Dear Nina: This ingrown toe nail has to be removed immediately since it is getting infected. I understand that you do not have insurance however it is important to consult a physician now in person rather than later when more complications will arrive which may include gangrene of the toe. In the mean time continue what you have been doing and do cover the toe with some gauze so as to avoid futher infection.
