Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi my partner is currently suffering from an overactive thyroid and has now developed an absess in her throat will penicillin take it away last time she had this she ended up needing steroids what should i do Dear Kelly: Depending on what is leading to the abcess ie what kind of microorganism ie bacteria she will need to be treated with antibiotics like penicillin. However if the abcess obstructs her respiratory pathway or is getting worse despite antibiotics she may need steroids. You need to take her to a physician in person for a complete and full physical examination and treatment. All the best. |
