Severe pain after Bloodwork

Dear Ask The Doctor: I recently had blood taken and now more than a week later my arm is still hurting and now the pain has spread to my back and upper chest and is intensifying.

Dear Amanda:A description of the pain would be helpful - ie, dull ache vs sharp shooting any other things about the arm such as any warmth, pain with motion or limitations on activity.  Without that information, I have to assume the worst case scenario based on your limited description. It appears it may be a case of phlebitis which is an infections after blood work. this can be treated with antibiotics but should be assessed immediately before it worsens.
