Sore in my left nostril?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have a big sore in my left nostril which hurts which i have had for a week. then 4 days ago the outside of my nose has gone very red, like rudolph., what may be the problem?

Dear Zoe: The most probable cause of the sore could be either due to follicultis. Treatment with oral or topical antibiotics for a period of 7 days will help. Try not to pick on the sore, which will lead to more pain and inflammation.
