How To Remove A Splinter?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have a splinter under my nail and i cant get it out and it really hurts , what do i do ? ive tried to get it out and i cant .

Dear Megan: Splinter injuries are common, but larger and deeper splinters are often difficult and painful to remove at home. Splinters if not removed can become infected and cause redness, swelling, severe pain and pus formation.  If you rae unable to remove the splinetr yourself, you should see a doctor for removal.
