Causes of lump near testicles

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have a small lump just to the right of my testicals what could this be and do i need to worry

Dear Jeremy: A lump near your testicles could indicate a swollen or infflamed lymph node which may occur during infections. If you have recently had a genital or urinary tract infection, the lymph nodes usually drain those areas and thus become swollen and inflammed. You need to keep a watch on the same and it should typically reduce after 5-7 days. If it does not you need to see your family physician for a complete physical and other possible investigations.

Ultrasounds are commonly ordered for assessment of scrotal masses.

All the best.
