Testicular lump and pain in a young adolescent

Dear Ask The Doctor: Today while walking, I noticed a strange throb or pain in (or around) my left testicle. Upon being fed up with this, I decided to feel and see if there was anything wrong. I felt a strange lump or object beneath my left testicle, it did not hurt to simply touch it. Im extremely afraid, to the point of being ill: Im only 17, I don't know what to think of this. PLEASE help me

Dear Zach: Any lump of the testicle can always be a testicular cancer. Thus we need to rule this out. However having said this it could also be a benign lump or a slight torsion ie the twisting of the testes. In any case this is acute and you need to see a physician in person immediately so as to get tests done and get the appropriate treatment. All the best.
