HIV exposure possible after trauma?

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hey Dr. Actually,I really needs your experiences Last month,I was in the gym,when I was using a tool (used also by others) To exercice my muscules,suddenly I sticked my back head with a metal wire lefted on this tool (It bleeds A very little bit) I really want to ask.From your experience what are the percentage of beeing infected by HIV Plz,I am really worried and Afraid Thanx you Dr. for your time

Dear Mohamed: Though HIV can survive for a very short time outside the body, they do not survive for long (it is reasonable to say that the viruses die when the blood in which they are contained dries up). I do understand your concern for HIV exposure but it is very unlikely that you would be at a risk of HIV.
