Dear Ask The Doctor: I am 19/f caucasian, i've had out of control hypertension for two years and none of the doctors i've seen can figure out why. I have recently been diagnosed with a first degree heart block, diabetes and PCOS as well. Cushings was ruled out today. My labs were unremarkable however the triglycerides were high (always have been) at 5.70, albumin 54, and alanine transaminase was 74. EKG's are mostly normal, however I have had a slight heart murmur since birth. I'm frustrated that after two years, the doctors are still saying the problem is my weight, when the majority of my excess weight has been gained in the last 2 years since this all started. Please help. I am now taking 3 different bp meds, metformin 3 times a day, birth control for pcos. Dear Brittany: Please check back here frequently for a response to your question.
