Dear Ask The Doctor: I have been taking suboxone strips and i ran out and not able to go back to get more this month. I got a pill from my friend and when i went to take it and my vitamin i accidentally swalloed it thinking it was my vitamin not paying any attention! Will it hurt me? Will i have the same affect as if i let it dissolve? What do I need to do?? Dear Sarah: Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. The medicine is taken sublingually by placing it under the tongue until it has dissolved. It is not recommended to swallow the tablet. If you experience any side-effects of the drug like nausea/vomiting, pain abdomen, dizziness, skin rash, dark urine or pale stools, I would advise you to see your doctor right away. |
