Celexa for Migraine Prevention |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: Could you please tell me why physicians prescribed Celexa for mirgraine? thank you Vikki Thompson Dear Vikki: Celexa is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI). It is commonly used for the management of depression. It is not prescribed for the treatment of migraines but can be used by neurologists as daily therapy for the prevention of migraines. it is not usually considered the first choice when considering preventive therapy but may be used when other therapies have failed or the patient has a medical condition that does not allow for the use of other therapies. I hope this clarifies things. |
