Alternatives to Darvocet for Fibromyalgia

Dear Ask The Doctor: I am 20 years old and have FMS. My pain is terriable. I have been taking Darvocet for a while now. The FDA has banned the drug and now I am left with horrible back and body pain and no medication. My doctor has told me to "deal" with the pain. Do you know why they banned it and what options do I have now for FMS?
Dear Joel: Darvocet is a pain killer, combination of propoxyphene and acetaminophen. There are in the market other alternatives less “habit-forming” and more effective to relieve pain; one of those alternative medications is Tramadol, but I strongly recommend that you and your PCP try to find other alternatives that can solve your problem, most of which are prescription drugs. |
