Dear Ask The Doctor: I am sceduled for surgery, Are any of these drugs blood thinners? -Atenolol, Nifedipine, Pravastatin, Propafenone, Fenofibrate. Thank you. Dear Melina: None of the medications you have mentioned are blood thinners. Atenolol and Nifedipine are used to lower blood pressure. Pravastatin and Fenofibrate are anti-cholesterol drugs while Propafenone is used to treat irregular heart beats. |
