Dear Ask The Doctor: If you smoked about 6 to 7 joints a day for about 2 years when I was living in Amsterdam and stopped about 2 months ago because I was diagnosed with PCOS and now Im back in SA. Also I went out about 2 weeks ago and had a small joint with some friends, so if I go for a drug test for a job interview soon, will I test postive. How long will it take for marijuana to leave my system
Marijuana when smoked can enter the blood faster as compared to eating (cookies). THC is a breakdown product of marijuana and is the one usually detected in lab tests. For heavy users, it may stay in the system for ~3mos; for occasional users, ~6 weeks. I would consider you a heavy user since you have been using it for 2 years on a regular basis. I’d say there is a big possibility that if the drug test will be done soon, it will turn out positive because 2 months is too short a time to clear up the THC and the recent use will add up to that. I do hope I have answered your question. Take care. |
