Cut off Fingertip Badly

Dear Ask The Doctor: I cut off the tip of my finger at work on a meat slicer, they dont have workers comp so they just stuck it on themselves and said let it heal. well its been 2 weeks and ive taken the bandages off and its crooked!! they said that piece would slowly peel off but the old nail is still holding on very well. it looks horrible and im afraid the severed nail isnt letting my new fingertip grow in properly!! helpp
