Dear Ask The Doctor: I have had pain just below my ribs on the left side for years now. I have been for a scope and had a few tests, the Dr's found nothing wrong. In fact, they said I should chenge my diet. So I did, in turn the pain subsided somewhat, howeve, more recently, the passed few months, the pain has returned, this time, much more severe. In fact, some times the only releif is pressing my fingers under my ribbs "hard" and pushing the pain away. Other simptoms include, hartburn after anything I eat, sweating and fatigue after every meal, floating light brown (clay coloured) stools, I hardly ever have a firm stool. I do smoke, not very often, roughly two per day, if that. I intend stopping very soon, I do eat fatty meals, however, no so often. Given the fact that my wife is a strong supporter of good meals, I have a healthly vegitable intake. I need help as i feel at times that this ongoing pain is going to cause further problems down the line, going to a Dr will cost and they often say the same thing, eat better and drink water. Lots of it.......
