Dear Ask The Doctor: I have acid reflux desease and cannot afford the medication. I'm researching diets. I found a site that was pretty good. It gave foods with little potential to cause heartburn, foods to be consumed with discretion and foods to aviod. The following foods were never mentioned on any of the list; Harvard Beets, Corn, Pears, Plums, Olives (green or black), Pickles (dill or sweet), Sweet Potatoes. Are these these foods acceptable? Also, the only beverages that were okay were apple juice and mineral water. What's the difference between mineral water and tap water as to creating acid?
