Dear Ask The Doctor: I am 31 years old and I have 3 children. Their ages are 3, 4, and 9. My 9 year old was diagnosed with ADHD almost 5 years ago and it has consistently become more severe. His father, uncle, aunt and 2 cousins on his fathers side also have ADHD but not as severe. The only case we know of on my side is my cousin and he was diagnosed with ADD not ADHD so I know that the genes came from both parental sides. My question is regarding my other 2 children. They have a different father than my 9 year old. What are the chances that one or both of them will develop ADHD as well? I have already noticed subtle symptoms in my 4 year old so I'm getting nervous. Can you give me any information about their possible fate?????
