Chicken pox vaccine rash and trasnmission possibility |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: My one year old had the chicken pox shot on Monday. on Friday he broke out in a rash. the Docter said it's a small rash from the chicken pox and it would clear. my question is I only had a very lite case of the chicken pox when I was 10 I'm 20 now and was wondering if it was possible if I could catch the rash or the chicken pox again. thank you :) Dear Corinne: People who've been vaccinated against chickenpox are usually immune to the virus. The same is true of anyone who has had chickenpox in the past. People at greatest risk of contracting chickenpox include anyone who hasn't been vaccinated or who has never had the disease. Since you are considered immune, let me reassure you that you don’t have to worry about the rash or re infecting with the virus. I wish you the best. |
