Dear Ask The Doctor: Hello there I have a lump under the skin which i would describe more like a nodule of some kind. It is located just underneath the skin of my perenium where a vein is i think. There is no skin discoloration, pain or any other symptom, no urination issues either. I have had this for between 5-7 months, it seemed to begin as a pimple or 2 and merged over time and became deeper in the tissue, although im not sure if that was related. I am 25 years old, caucasian European male and in good health, except slightly overweight. I also have varicose veins, if it could possibly be that? If you could give me some insight that would be great and weather i should bother to see a doctor or not?
Dear Luke: I would still suggest a doctor should see that. It could be a lot of things. It is possible that could have started as a pimple and developed into an abscess; you may need antibiotics. If you are sexually active, there are also a number of sexually transmitted diseases that will present as a nodule. Seeing a doctor in person would be the best idea so you will know for sure it is not a wart or something serious. I do hope I have appeased your concern and take care always. |
