Dear Ask The Doctor: Iv been on my birth control pill, Lutera, for about a year and have never noticed any problems with side effects before. The last five months or so though, iv been noticing a really big change in my mood as i get closer to my period throughout the month.I understand that being hormonal is a normal thing when on your period, especially for a younger woman like me (im 17) but its gotten really out of hand. My mom told me i should switch my birth control but im not completely convinced that, that is whats causing it sense my moods arent all the time, just as i get closer to my period. By moods i mean acting kind of crazy, especialy toward my boyfriend, screaming one minute, crying the next over very little things, like him not texting me fast enough. I even catch myself alot, asking myself why am i acting like this but i cant seem to get out of the moods. I also can get very depressed at these times, which i worry about because iv had a long history of depression throughout my life although iv never been put on medication for it. I just dont want to, relapse, if you will. What is your oppinion? should i switch my birth control? or is there another option i havent considered?
