Does my boyfriend have schizophrenia?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I'm worried about my boyfriend, he thinks he might have mental problems, he used to take drugs but has been off them for a good few months now, one night he took some pill and he said it's changed him.. He thinks that he is just passed out on the floor from taking that pill and he is making this life up in his head, and when he dies in this life he is going to wake up on that floor. He think's he's being beaten up on that floor and every now and then starts thinking it's happening to him now, he's been hearing screaming in his head, and thinks everyone knows something about him which he doesn't. He told me he thinks that everything is a sign to show that this life isn't the real one. Could this be schizophrenia?
