Is Progesterone still recommended after a supra-cervical hysterectomy?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I am a 60 year old woman who underwent a supra-cervical hysterectomy two years ago. I take Tri-Est .1 mg daily. My medical providers diametrically disagree on whether I should continue taking Progesterone Cream. One says "absolutely" while the other says "no way". What is your opinion?
Dear Cynthia: Progesterone helps to maintain the lining of th uterus. Since your uterus has been removed along with a part of your cervix there is no need to use progesterone cream. |
