Air travel after surgery

Dear Fred: Taking a commercial flight will have no effect on your recovery from rotator cuff surgery. However, I suggest allowing a week or two after surgery before flying, if your trip will be for an extended period of time. This time period is to allow for treatment of any potential complications which may develop. Your surgeon will be able to address any such issues directly rather than you having to see a new surgeon entirely.
