Shingles and CMV relation?

Dear Ask The Doctor: I was just diagnosed with shingles. i have a roomate who has CMV. Could this be in any way related to my outbreak and does her 13 year old son need to not come in contact with me for a certain time

Shingles is the same virus that causes chickenpox. Anyone who has had chickenpox in their lifetime can get shingles. CMV belongs to the same family of the Herpes Virus and has no relation with your shingles. I hope I could clear your doubt.
