Dear Ask The Doctor: Can't you get Shingles from some one who has them. Dear Boley: No, a person who has shingles would not transmit shingles to other healthy person. However the virus that causes shingles which is the same as the one that causes Chickenpox could be transmitted. Therefore, a person who has shingles can only transmit chickenpox to a person who has never had it before but not shingles. |
